Sally started writing while working full time as a nurse. She earned a BSN from Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing and an MS in Education from the State University of New York.
Mrs. Kamerling’s grandparents immigrated to the U.S. from Holland in the early 1900’s. While touring the Netherlands with her husband, she visited her grandmother’s birthplace in a small fishing village in the province of Friesland. There she visited the house where her grandmother was born. She also met distant relatives who provided information about their customs, the history of the town, and an old family story she had heard about a mysterious golden cap and the role it played in financing her grandmother’s trip to America.
Mrs. Kamerling is an avid bird watcher, enjoys long walks along her quiet country road, reading and writing, and keeping in touch with her large and scattered family. She lives in Upstate New York with her husband.
